Dear
Finn
In
the stillness of the night, my heart reaches out to you, longing for your
presence, but finding only an empty void looking for answers. The sky at night
in Nairobi has made it difficult to communicate. Looking up trying to find a
star to tell you that I am OK. However, I am sorry I went M.I.A and I hope we
won’t be strangers. You are the joy of our lives and we
love you, nothing will change the way we feel.
I want you to understand...
What
she went through with you, shows how resilient you would have been. It wasn’t
easy for her and sometimes her story always makes me break down in tears; you
are the one that got away. Desoleil, as the seasons change and the world
continues to spin, I carry your essence within me. You were the one who sacrificed everything and
now I have this endless circle of opportunities that I am always thankful. She
always asks “what would have been?”
The
folks did find solace in the memories, but I am feeling kind a distant from
you, Desoleil. I wish you're out of town and only a text away and I wish that you
were here and right next to me. Let’s go to Chimoi, it is just west of me.
In
the tapestry of life, you are still in our hearts. It feels like we do not talk
about you but you are the light that will forever shine brightly in our hearts,
casting a warm glow upon the path we tread. We will honor your memory by living
a life filled with purpose, compassion, and love, knowing that you would want
nothing less for us.
I
know we would have been like Jake and Finn. Going through traversed, mysterious
and deep dungeons, Encountering situations both scary and meek. Through anxious
and depressed thoughts, we would bravely stride, with a trust in each other,
nothing could divide.
With great anticipation, one day as I will be gazing at the sky, give me a sign or even just say ‘Hi’. Until then, we will carry you with us, etched upon the canvas of our being, forever cherished and deeply missed.
With love and longing,
[Bridges Mugala]
