HOW WE WROTE A SONG

Today, we are writing a song. we are not really good at it but at least Buddy and i gave it an effort. This is probably one of the hardest thing i have ever done. It took us days just to come up with something to build on and this is the process we followed.

HOW WE WROTE A SONG
Title and Theme
Unlike most of our stories, we had to come up with the title first. The main idea was to tame our thoughts and narrow our lyrical ideology towards the title. Coming up with the title will enable us to have a clear vision on our theme(s). Therefore, our theme(s) will be rooted to the title. After brainstorming for a while, Buddy and i settled on "Heartcake". The reason why we settled for that title is because we are not going to put heartcake on the song. We thought about playing with the words. Its more of a heartbreak song but we felt like putting on cake instead of break to put something bittersweet.
The genre of our song is melancholic indie pop. Buddy calls it melancholia which he explains it as a genre that evokes a sense of sadness and introspection. At this point, you can know narrow down the theme(s) of our song. We delved into the world of heartbreaks and desire.
 Song Structure
We decided to start with a verse, bridge then chorus. Just the three stanzas. Again it took us an eternity to write to come up with words.
About

Basically, heartbreaks aren't easy to deal with especially when you have an underlying mental health issue. Buddy doesn't really open up at all but he knows how to manage or be at peace. Sometimes we play video games, take a walk, eat and now, we tried to make a song. He was going through a series of emotions; failure, grieve, heartbroken.

So Ladies and gentlemen;

"Heartcake"

VERSE
if heaven wont pay for my dues
will i be faithful
ill let go of my claim on you
And i hope my heart wont fade
i am happy about yesterday
And i am happy for you
If i fall let it be by grace
let the scars on my arms witness fate

Pre-Chorus
you left the door closed
you chose to let go
i hope the rain will stop
i hope i don't loose my mind
but if i do, do, do....

Chorus
i'll have lost all faith in you
loving you was everything
you chose to leave
when you were my everything
I told you i love you
and i said it with flowers
